PostJuly5 fireworks 1 Vote for the Best Place to See Fireworks in St. LouisEveryone in St. Louis knows that it is a great city to celebrate the July 4th holiday. Professional Travel Guide agrees with us, and has included St. Louis in their top 8 places to visit to see Fourth of July fireworks.

In addition to heading downtown for fireworks and Fair St. Louis, we have tons of places we can go see fireworks that are only a short drive away.

Last night, I headed to Chesterfield Mall for their display for the first time. I have to say it was the most hassle-free place that I have ever seen fireworks. Just off Highway 40 in West County, there was absolutely no traffic backup getting in even though we didn’t arrive until around 9 pm. With much of the mall available for parking, there was no problem finding a spot. With a roped off area on the parking lot just for lawn chairs, plus there are plenty of grassy strips for comfortable seating with blankets, it was easy to find a place to see the show. And the fireworks weren’t bad either!

In the past, I have also seen fireworks at:

Fair St. Louis (both from Downtown St. Louis and from the east side at the Casino Queen)
Webster Groves
Bridgeton
St. Charles Riverfront

Where do you think is the best place to see fireworks?

Tell us what makes it better than the rest (other than being the closest to your house). My vote would have to go to St. Charles Riverfront. Even though parking and traffic is a real pain, it has a great display and the complete festival feel. I like that you don’t have to make the day of it like I would for Fair St. Louis. Just plan on parking up around 6th street, and by the time you walk back to your car, the traffic getting out won’t be so bad.

And, if you missed fireworks last night (or just want to go again), you still have a few options for tonight:

Downtown Soldier’s Memorial (flooding relocated Fair St. Louis) 9:15 pm
St. Charles Frontier Park 9:20 pm
Arnold First Baptist Church 9:15 pm
Vandalia, Illinois (Vandalia Lake) 9:15 pm
