It’s been a while since I published any of my bad MLS photo series. I’ve been collecting photos as I run across them so you’ll be seeing more MLS stupidity in the future.
What is wrong with this picture?
South City home listed at $91,900
The listing agent actually included in the description that the house comes with a “solar powered clothes dryer”. I just don’t know what else to say about this one. Oh…they actually did include a picture of a washer AND dryer in the basement. Go figure.

Buyers study pictures to decide if they want to come see your home. If you are selling your home, make sure your pictures don’t disqualify your home before the buyers even walk through the door.
If your home is already on the market, take a critical look at the pictures posted on your listing and ask your agent to redo any of the pictures that send out red flags. If you are preparing to list your home and haven’t yet selected an agent, I would welcome a chance to talk to you. For more information on what I offer my home listing clients, take a look at my FAQ for Sellers or contact me by email.

While such a picture would cause some people to knock it off their list, I wonder if such a display of humor would influence some people to see it who might otherwise pass.
It may be comparing apples to oranges, but for years I had “biscuit boy” listed at the bottom of my resume (I worked at Popeyes the summer I was 16). Unprofessional? Maybe. But I got interviews because employers sifting through dozens of resumes would remember mine.
Robert – I too appreciate humor, which is why I wanted to show it to all of my blog visitors. But, it really doesn’t belong as a primary picture in a home listing advertisement. Buying a home is a big investment and too many might see this picture as a reflection on the tackiness of the neighborhood.
I wouldn’t suggest doing anything that might turn off a large portion of your buyers.
Wow! Amazing what goes thru some folks minds.
