St. Louis Event Schedule – October 2009

St. Louis has so many wonderful events with something for everyone.

Loop in Motion (October 2-3):

The Loop’s annual visual and performing arts festival will take place on the sidewalks and in the streets along Delmar.

The event will kick off with a Friday evening Art Walk featuring exhibitions at more than 20 locations throughout the Loop. There will be dance performances at the Regional Arts Commission.

On Saturday enjoy dance performances and live music on the festival’s main stage. Art exhibits and demonstrations, performance art, sidewalk sales and eclectic goings-on will be throughout The Loop.

Taste of St. Louis (October 2-4):

The award-winning Taste of St. Louis is a celebration of the best food, art music and culture our great city has to offer. There is something for everyone at the event with activities and participants continuing to grow each year. Last year, over 300,000 patrons attended the event!

This year’s event takes place at Soldier’s Memorial (12th & Market) - plenty of free parking, a beautiful park atmosphere, and a great view of the Arch.

17th Annual Historic Shaw Art Fair (October 3-4):

The St. Louis region offers a number of Art Fairs, but the Historic Shaw Art Fair is one that you shouldn’t miss. Stop by to see the 135 artists from around the country who work in a large variety of media and styles.

Located on the tree-lined parkway of beautiful Flora Place at Tower Grove Avenue, the Historic Shaw Art Fair is one of the premier fine art and fine craft fairs in the St. Louis area. It is highly rated by art fair magazines and participating artists.

The food court and a variety of music help make your visit a relaxed and pleasant one. Dogs on leashes are welcome. Disabled parking and accessible entry ramp provided. Parking is available on neighborhood streets and in Tower Grove Park. The Missouri Botanical Garden’s Best Of Missouri Market is held on the same weekend directly across Tower Grove Avenue.

St. Louis Wine Festival (October 3-4):

Stop by Forest Park for a celebration of wine, food, music and friends.

The festival provides an opportunity to sample from more than 200 wines from around the world. Learn about new and exciting varieties from the experts in a relaxed festival setting.

Wine seminars and cooking demonstrations are conducted by event sponsors, exhibiting wineries, area chefs and restaurateurs.

Enjoy food from some of the St. Louis area’s finest restaurants and caterers.

Local musical talent will perform live each day.

Soulard Oktoberfest (October 9-11):

Many people think of heading to the Augusta or Hermann wineries for Octoberfest. This year, stick closer to home at the Soulard event. The 3 day event includes a Kids Karneval, microbrew competition and taste, beer stein holding contests, Miss Soulard Oktoberfest pageant, art show, BMW car show, food and live music featuring over 14 bands.

Halloween in St. Louis:

CWE Halloween Party (October 28):

Children’s costume parade at 11 a.m., dog parade at 1 p.m., adult costume contest at 8 p.m. at the corner of Maryland and Euclid aves. Sat., Oct. 28, free, www.thecwe.com. Central West End, St. Louis.

Ghost Hunting Tours (Tuesdays & Thursdays in October):

An experienced psychic attempts to communicate with the restless Lemp clan (many of whom committed suicide), and amateur ghost-hunters are encouraged to bring along their own flashlights and cameras. Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Tivoli Theater (October 27-28):
