When homeowners contact us to sell their homes, one of the questions they ask is how long it typically takes to sell a home.
There are homes that sell in a week like the 2 that we sold last month. There are also homes that take over a year because they are not priced correctly for the features and condition they offer. Sometimes even homes that are priced really well don’t sell because there just doesn’t seem to be anyone buying.
Below are charts which show the median number of days it took for St. Louis area single family homes and condos to get an accepted contract.
The charts show the length of time it takes to sell homes each year from 2008 – 2011 in St. Louis City, St. Louis County and St. Charles County.

The biggest difference in how long it takes to sell a home in St. Louis is not which county the property is in, but if it is a house or a condo.
