Hiring a real estate agent to help you purchase or sell a property is a big decision.
There were 5,460 real estate agents who closed at least one of the 21,279 sales in St. Louis City, St. Louis County or St. Charles County in 2009. Plus, there are many more licensed agents who didn’t make a sale last year, or work on team and their sales are recorded under another agent’s name.
So how do you choose an agent from the thousands who are are trying to get your business?
There is plenty of advice on the internet about choosing a real estate agent. Here are just a few of the articles that I found by doing a quick Google search.
I think that all of the things these articles talk about are important. But some agents go above and beyond by doing the little things that make real estate transactions go just a bit more smoothly.
I work hard to be one of those agents.
A couple of weeks ago I recorded a video talking about this subject along with giving you an example of a little thing that every agent should be doing for their clients.
For those of you who have been regular Arch City Homes visitors, you’ve seen a lot of changes over the last 2 years.
I launched my fist website in October 2007. Only one month later, I wrote my first blog post. The site was initially called RealEstateInfoSTL.com and was a real estate template website.
I quickly realized that the site name was a bad choice. It was too long and it wasn’t fun having to spell it out every time I gave out my email address.
As I learned more about blogs and websites, I also realized that my template site was too limiting. It was like being forced to ride a bike with training wheels after you knew how to balance on your own. The training wheels may keep you from falling over, but they also prevent you from making sharp turns.
I wanted my site to be able to do things that it simply couldn’t do. I renamed the site Arch City Homes and moved it to Wordpress, the preferred website platform for most bloggers.
One Year Later
Since joining Keller Williams earlier this year, my business model has undergone a major shift.
I started out as an agent who wore every hat. I showed buyers homes, photographed listings, measured rooms and created marketing campaigns to sell listings and my services.
But my business has grown over the last year. Now I have a team of professionals who work with me to take care of my clients.
It seemed like the right time to give this website a makeover to match the new direction of my business. I hired a fabulous web design team, Cynthia LaLuna and Deborah Wolfe with Rowboat Media. They did an amazing job.
I hope you’ll take a few minutes to explore the new site. There are still a few pages that need the content filled in…I’ll be working on that over the next few days. If you find anything confusing or broken, please take a minute to let me know.
If you are reading this in a feed reader, please click through and check out the new design.
About 2 years ago, I made the decision to leave the behind the safety net of the real estate brokerage which provided me with all of the clients I could want. I knew that the long hours, non-existent days off and bad commission splits would never get better. If I wanted some balance in my [...]
This year I made a commitment to give back to the community by making a charitable donation every month.
Well, I get busy and one thing led to another, and I got a few months behind. I did Sponsor a Child for the NCJW Back to School Store, but it’s already May and I’m 4 months [...]
This year I decided to use the tradition of making New Year’s resolutions as catalyst for becoming a better world citizen. I wrote a post pointing out a few personal changes I made in 2008 and my resolutions for 2009.
One quarter into the year, it’s time to grade myself on my progress.
2009 Resolutions:
1. Connect more [...]
In 2005, St. Louis Magazine started publishing an annual Five Star Award to find real estate agents in St. Louis that were rated by their clients as Best in Client Satisfaction. The magazine partners with Crescendo Business Services to conduct an independent survey to identify the best residential real estate agents in town.
