About

University City is a vibrant community that is located just west of the Central West End area of St. Louis City and Forest Park. In addition to historic neighborhoods, the city includes an urban retail/restaurant strip known as The Loop which offers independent restaurants, shopping, concerts and nightlife. There is also a business district along Olive Blvd that includes many independent Asian restaurants and markets. Neighborhood parks scattered throughout the community and plenty of cafes in walking distance makes UCity a popular area for urban-minded residents. University City is an older inner ring suburb that offers convenient access to all that the region has to offer. Washington University of St. Louis, a top rated private university, is located in UCity. Housing located near the University contains many rentals and condominiums mostly in 2-6 family historic brick buildings. Other parts of of University City offer traditional 2 story single family homes built prior to 1940 and ranch homes built in the 1950 ¯¿½¢¯¿½¯¿½ 1960s. The most affordable parts of the district also offer bungalow style single family homes and rental a large complex consisting of clusters of medium sized buildings. Just about all housing in University City contains brick masonry construction, and there is almost no housing that was built in the last 20 years other than a small number of properties built on tear down lots.
